Welcome. We may yet post a blog... who knows?
But here's a question. I've been looking at friends blogs for the last three hours. And looking at the blogs of their friends and the blogs of their friends friends, and something hit me. All of these people who used to be blogging animals are slowing down. The summer was either good to them or not so much... but at any rate, I'm seeing one post a month, maybe two. What gives?
My hesitation to start a blog has been because I just wasn't sure I wanted to commit the kind of time and thought, the kind of reflection, that it would deserve. So I've avoided the blog world and just maintained an
informative family website.
Recently, I've had the itch to perhaps link more into this blog world. If not to write myself, then to at least have a collection of my friends blogs to sort through to -- ah, to sponge off their live... to live through them (I mean, afterall, I live in Buffalo, NY).
Stereotypes aside, Buffalo isn't really bad... but I'll leave that hanging out there for all those who shutter when imagining our weather.
At any rate, I don't yet know if I want to blog. I'd love to survey people to find out why they aren't blogging so much though, and you know, I'd love to find out who's actually reading. I mean, really. What is the point of blogging? If it's mere diary, then, ok. One doesn't need a reader. The writing is the end in itself. Yet, many of these are not written as diaries but as communications; they are written with the assumption of a reader.
But is anyone reading?
And of course the more central question to my own writing or keeping of a blog... would anyone be reading me? Likely not. Right now, they don't know this post exists. But alas, I am right there in my hesitation... send a note to tell some people we're blogging and see if I can get some readers... or leave it be? Hmm...
